Hi, thanks for visiting my blog. I’ve been a journalist since 1982. My family has been locksmiths since 1976 – first specializing exclusively as hotel locksmiths until 2002, then creating a new business for residential and commercial locksmithing. It wasn’t until I starting marketing the new business last year that I became aware of serious problems associated with the industry – not with genuine locksmiths, mind you, but with those “posing” as locksmiths. I’m looking forward to using my investigative skills and my knowledge of the locksmith industry to help the average consumer avoid getting scammed or inviting disreputable characters into their homes and businesses.

Barbara Haiss Martin is an award-winning journalist and editor whose articles have appeared in numerous publications. Before owning Media News Service, Inc. a small news agency, which provided news and feature stories to local and national publications, she worked as a Managing Editor of a large news publication. As a journalist and feature writer, she covered “cops and courts” for several years for different papers while also working part-time in the family locksmith business. She has a degree in Journalism from UCF and has been a long-time member of the Society of Professional Journalists and Investigative Reporters & Editors.
